Nudity influences fashion?

98 Hussein Chalayan collection

Indeed, more flesh is being seen in contemporary fashion but the reason behind it is worth to examine. is it because people start to question about modesty? or people start to appreciate the natural attractiveness from nakedness body? Hussein Chalayan collection in 1998 is a typical example that shows the influence of nudity on fashion in contemporary, the collection shocked the whole fashion industry. He was experimenting and playing with different degrees of nakedness with her models veiled their face but gradually denuding from below. Maybe, maybe there is a possibility in the future that human return to the origin, fully naked. If that really happen, fashion industry must have a big revolution.

thank you very much.

so FUN! Mercibeaucoup is one of my favorite and this is her AW2010 Collection.

According to her official website, her brand concept:

Purely, happily, beautifully, mercibeaucoup, neat and proper, but with some fun.

Do have something to say, but never with airs put on.

In the name, we show our dedication, never to forget, but everyday cherish, and the precious feeling of appreciation and thank.

All the pieces in there are so pure, colorful, quirky and fun, every collection of Mercibeaucoup is like bringing you back into the fantasy world we all had in our childhood. The most AMAZING thing is those pieces can actually mix n match into different style, quirky yet wearable.

I like his work. Takashi Murakam, a Japanese pop art master. His works question the boundaries between East and West, time, history, art and culture. The way that he combined 'high art' and 'low culture' brings him succeeded. In 2008, he was on the list of "100 Most Influential People" of Time Magazine.

“The Maison In A Room” by Maison Martin Margiela

From Slamxhype on April 20th 10, 7:50 by James Oliver

http://slamxhype.com/fashion/“the-maison-in-a-room”-by-maison-martin-margiela/

‘The Maison In A Room’ is a space entirely redesigned and redecorated by Belgian fashion designer Maison Martin Margiela at 10 Corso Como. the atmosphere of the room draws on his iconographic use of black and white furniture, objects, fabrics and textures.Trompe l’oeil walls of this Parisian apartment show a fireplace, doors and carved wood
panels to build on the space’s personality.

referencing the coloring games played by children, the walls are displayed with partially empty numbered zones to be re-colored in different shades of grey and silver. safes are half hidden behind classical paintings to display jewelry while sunglasses are presented on the eyes of surrealistic dolls.

‘The Maison In A Room’ is occupied by additional designs by Margiela including: his complete collection of home objects edited by ENO, the Maison Martin Margiela book published by Rizzoli, ‘untitled’ his first fragrance for women, his jewelry collection, his complete collection of ‘incognito’ sunglasses and his hand-knotted wool and silk rug
which came out of his collaboration with chevalier édition.

    ‘The Maison In A Room’
    10 corso como, Milan
    April 10 – May 30

A fantastic example of collaboration between art and interior design: Margiela aesthetic has been totally applied in this room at Milan Design Week 2010, with the the idea of black and white color theme, combination of tangible decorations and hand-drew setting, and the minimalistic use of space. It is good to see the work of Margiela once again after he've left the the label MMM.

    king of crazy fashion

    image via KO.Fashion
    http://blog.kofashion.com/post/2008/08/28/Bernhard-Willhelm

Bernhard Willhelm, people described him as the king of crazy fashion. He really is. His designs always have some sort of surreal elements, and his confident in colors, extreme in cut and loud in design have given us big surprises in every season. The German born designer was graduated from the Royal Academy of Antwerp in 1998, and he has been worked for some big names such as Walter Van Beirendonck, Alexander McQueen, Vivienne Westwood and Dirk Bikkembergs before launching his own label. After reading a few interviews he've done with different medias, he's the kind of person that like something different and changes, like what he said in the interview with Hint Magazine, "I like to change and play with me. Even if somebody says I found myself or whatever, that's crap. The nice thing about life is it changes everyday. The real you or me doesn't exist. Sometimes it's good to show your legs, while other days you might cover them. It's not good to hide yourself all the time. Sometimes you even have to let the ugliness out."
To me, this is so true as everyone now often dress so similar. We don't need uniformity, wouldn't it be great if everyone dress differently and have their own individuality in terms of clothing?
Please keep it up with your craziness, Bernhard Willhelm.

    Summer GONE?

Summer is soon to be gone in Sydney, but i've just found a label that makes swimwear with INTERESTING prints. It is an Australian label called We Are Handsome. The founders are Indhra Chagoury and Jeremy Somers, who wanted to do something extraordinary, fun and stunning.
According to what they said in their website, it is all hand made, using highest quality polyester lycra and printed with high density inks.
To me, it's a fusion of ART, HANDCRAFT, FASHION and SWIMWEAR. The prints are awesome and girls can wear it and mix n match with other garments as a fashion pieces.

    show me your TEETH

Woke up so late, it was 12pm already. Ate the left over kfc chicken for lunch, no mood to work(actually have loads of assignment waiting for me), so I just surfed around the internet and maybe I could find something interesting to share in here.
This is it, sterling silver accessories with human teeth from VAN DER GLAS.
From VAN DER GLAS official website,
"This is the first collection of wearable works by Polly van der Glas.
Polly was silversmith qualified in 2006 and won the Craft Victoria Fillipo Raphael Fresh! Award upon graduation.
All works are handmade in Melbourne, with sterling silver, human hair and human teeth. Human teeth are locally donated and sterilised, and human hair is either locally donated or sourced from India and China.
Teeth are particularly difficult to come by, so any donations are gratefully accepted."

It's pretty cool actually, with the REAL human teeth on, isn't it?

Tell you a bit about myself :)

I like observing, anything around us has its own distinctive value and they are all INSPIRING.

I like Fashion, anything related to fashion.

I like designing, particularly like fashion design. Why fashion? as I think garment is so close to us, just like the second skin of human, the interrelationship between human body and garment are so attracted to me.

I like stunning, fun and conceptual design, so most of the designers I admired are cutting edge, with a sense of fun and a bit quirky. I'll probably share some of them in my blog later.

I like graphic design as well.

The blog here shirt or skirt? is a space for me to share anything inspiring, fun and fashionable among both genders.
